We travelled to Vermont from NYC by car and stayed at a bed and Breakfast so we could Sam's family for Thanksgiving celebrations

Trip to visit Swedish Grandparents

We are (just Karin and I) in Mt. Kisco NY for a few days before Kacy gets here on Wed. We will head to Vermont for Thanksgiving Wednesday evening. The journey here went smoothly and Karin was a good listener, but we are also tired now! Jet lag and all the rest. To see videos from the whole trip, click here

Can you tell the differences between the two baby photos? They are both wearing the same outfit! Part of the benefit of having two girls. Lot's of clothes to be re-used. Elin seems to have blue eyes so far.

Elin Bradshaw is born

On February 17, 2011 we welcomed our precious little daughter, Elin Maeva-Rose Bradshaw, into our family. We have been blessed with two beautiful, children. Karin anxiously awaited Elin’s arrival and has been the best big sister one could ever hope for! That doesn’t mean she has been a perfect angel; four is proving to be the age of the battle of the wills . . . and her will is incredibly strong. Despite this she is kind and soft with Elin and so excited to have her in our family.

Kacy’s delivery was relatively smooth, but given that it was abdominal surgery, her recovery has been slower than she had hoped for. She had much more pain with this second delivery and had to have minor abdominal reconstruction so we feel quite confident that this will be our last child bearing experience. She is taking her maternity leave seriously and spends most of her days lying in bed holding and nursing the baby. She feels quite confident that she had earned this extended down-time coming off the completion on her Master’s degree and beginning a new career. Mommy could not be happier with her life!

Sam is working hard at work and at home trying to meet all the demands requested of him. He has been nurturing and has become quite the little chef providing approximately 95% of all meals to the family. We would starve without him . . . or at least get very tired of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. He is amazed at just how perfect Elin is and loves having another child that looks just like him.

We are settling in to a new way of life here in Lake Oswego as a family of four and we love it! Karin Has her First Tennis Lesson

Karin did a great job. The first ball she hit went in. After the tennis lesson Karin said "when can I do this again?!!". Karin was one of the youngest students there but she managed to hang in there with the group which consists of 4-6 year old kids. The program is called Tennis for Tots. Stay tuned for Karin's progress.

Bradshaw Family are Having another Child. It is official, we are having a girl. The name will be Elin.

Karin Graduates from Pre-School

Karin recently graduated from Pre-School. An amazing mile-stone in her short life. We can't believe she is already moving on to more advanced classes like "Pre-K".

We will find out shortly if she is going to the next class (at her day-care center) as she is right on the "border" in terms of age.

The day-care center had a very nice little ceremony with proper pomp, ceremony, music, and of course cake! Such as nice thing. Karin was proud, happy, and overwhelmed all at the same time. Click here to see her latest photos.

Karin Goes Camping

Karin goes camping with her Grand-Mom and Grand-Dad. Sleeps in a motor-home, goes fishing, and has fun. Lot's of nice photos to be seen.

Karin's Great Grand-Mother Brita Crosses Over to the Other Side

Sam's beloved Brita passes to a better place after a struggle with Cancer, old age, and heart complications.

Mor-Mor (Mother's Mother in Swedish) Brita was 91. They are seen together here in this loving photo together

We will treasure her memory and make sure Karin learns about her, and her life, as Karin grows up. We also know that Karin will be watched by Brita from where her spirit now is.

Sam is Brita's only Grandson and having spent almost every summer together from Childhood to Youth -- an incredible closeness and love has emerged. Brita was so overjoyed when she was able to briefly share in her Great Grandchild's life. Even though they did not spend a lot of time together (2 weeks) Brita spoke to Sam several times a week about Karin and was part of her development each step of the way (for all of Karin's life). Thanks to the Internet Brita was also able to surf the net (yes at 90 years old) and look at Karin's latest photos and videos.

We often go to the playground. Today is the first time in a long while
as Karin has been with her Grandma. She has grown-up so much and seems
so mature.

balloon gets blown around she gets a little panicked and says "I can't
do it, I can't get it up into the sky!"

Karin Decorating Xmas Tree

We built a ginger bread house yesterday. Karin was really excited and helped out. At some point we had to force her away from the table though as all the decorations started ending up in her stomach. She liked to put the candy on the ginger bread house and the ginger bread trees, but she also enjoyed putting them in her mouth. :)

Karin is a real little person now. She truly likes the Christmas tree and also thinks its a blast to hang things on it. It is fun to share the holiday season with her and realize that this is something special for her too....even if she may not remember it, she really is living in the moment and knows something special is happening. She is going to enjoy opening the presents soon to be under the tree as well.

Thanksgiving was a wonderful time and I was happy to see my parents connect with Karin. They had not seen each other for an entire year. So much development takes place in that year and it was great to see them connect.

Wonderful to see Karin interact with all my other relatives as well.

Walk in the forest

We went for a long walk in the forest today in Tryon creek state park behind our house. I'm Mr. Mom this weekend.

Karin for the first time discovered that deep in the forest she can make her voice echo. Wow, that was another amazing first to watch. If there was anyone else in the forest they must have thought there was some weird animal on the trail.

Bernie also had fun -- had to wash his feet before we got into the house. We also picked some apples in the apple orchard on our way out. Most were mushy but still a few good ones on the ground.

Swinging ('wingin)

Karin loves to swing. She calls it 'winging as she has problems with S sounds except when she says ssssnake.
Anyway, yesterday she was 'winging and she closed her eyes. I wish I could have taken a picture. She kept her eyes closed for a long time and was letting the feeling sink in. It was the cutest thing.

Kids can be very trusting and at this age & so many things are "new". Things we take for granted are a huge discovery and a new joy found for the little ones.

Karin is a little wizard with naming animals

Karin is really into reading her big animal book. I think she can name almost 30 animals. I'm loosing track of how many she knows; toad, hummingbird, jelly fish, pelican, and so on. It just keeps going and going. How her mind works I have no idea, her mind is a total spunge. The development is crazy and so fun to watch. She is starting to get more familiar with many sentences. Some phrases of late "no way", "I don't like it, it's yucky", and "put me down now please".

I called Kacy and my big girl Karin on their trip to Oklahoma yesterday night. I asked to speak to Karin -- so Kacy asked Karin to come over and speak to me.. Guess what she said! "In a minute"!.. She just kept screaming "in a minute!".. what a little rascal! :) I can tell the terrible two's are coming..

A few firsts!

Last weekend Karin fed ducks for the firs time she absolutely loved it. She also asked a boy if she could kiss him for the first time. She didn't have much luck.

Today for the first time Karin counted to five all on her own while she was eating a pancacke. Kacy couldn't believe it!

Karin Gone again for a week!

Karin has been gone again for a week as Kacy needed to baby sit for her Sister. I will be re-united with Karin again today! I'm realizing she is hardly a baby any more so I will refrain from calling her Baby Karin. The latest news is she is even more in love with water and I hear from Kacy that she is fearless in the pool with her little "floaties"!

Karin has been visiting her Grandma, Auntie's and cousins in Medford for a
week and I have been in NYC a week after that. Have not seen my baby girl
in almost two weeks!

I hear she can now say "turtle" among other things.. Karin is starting to
string words together now to communicate.. Its amazing.. She has talked
about me a lot recently I hear so it sounds like she hasn't forgotten about
me the past few weeks..

Well, Karin is getting to be more fun every day. Recently she has started thanking people often when she gets what she wants. She is also getting much better with her "please's". Very exciting!

Karin's favorite TV show these days is Dora the Explorer. She also loves any toys related to this cartoon.
